Leaf collage

We began learning about trees. As part of this unit, we went for a walk outside to collect leaves. When we brought them into the classroom, we sorted the leaves by color and then by shape. The students did a great job working together in small groups to sort the leaves into shapes.

If children would like to collect leaves from home, they can bring them in to add to the collage!

Beginning sound sort

We practiced isolating and identifying beginning sounds with a picture sort today.

Math Games

The students are playing a "one more" version of tic tac toe. They take turns picking a number tile from the bag. They add their color tile to the number on the board that is one more. They try to get three in a row.

The children used dot tiles to create their own game board. We taped the dot tile of number 5 to the middle. They had to sort the other tiles based on if they were more than or less than 5.

Pajama Day this Friday

This week we are learning about letters “p” and “j.” To celebrate, please send your child in their PJ’s on Friday, October 24.

Dry Erase boards

To help learn the letters "e" and "r" this week, we have been writing the letters on dry erase boards. Students learn where the lines of the letters go by using the lines (sky line, plane line, grass line, and worm line).

What begins with "r"?

We made a list of words that begin with "r" on the activboard this afternoon. The children came up with a lot of words, and then wrote them in their beginning sound journal.

We have been learning letters "r" and "e" in fundations this week.
