A busy day in kindergarten :-)

Students connected chains together to measure across the room!

Students constructed buildings using dominos.
A quick snapshot into our day: we worked with our understanding of the "h brothers" (digraphs: ch, th, sh), we practiced a few big book sight readers, conducted science experiments with two bouncy balls, explored with clay, took our topic math test on the teen numbers, had a dance party to the song "Happy," and worked on our skills of being good listeners and friends.   :-) I look forward to another fun day tomorrow!!

Teen numbers

For our math topics, we have been spending a great deal of time with the teen numbers. We are learning how to use the ten frame to write addition sentences with numbers 11-19 (for example: 10 + 4 = 14). We also strengthen our understanding of these new concepts with math games. The pictures below show a partner board game we played this week.

Handprint Art

Last week, we used our sight words to fill in the missing word in a handprint poem. Then we used our tracing and cutting skills to cut out our own colorful hands. We finished up the lesson by stamping hand prints with paint. The pictures are hanging up in the hallway outside of our classroom.

COSI on wheels

We began the day on Wednesday attending an all school assembly. COSI put on a chemistry presentation for the whole school. The children were excited to see various science experiments performed right in front of their eyes! After the assembly, each grade level had a designated time to visit hands on stations set up in the gym. We could not have enjoyed such a fun day without the help of our amazing parent volunteers!!
